Regional Cancer Center
The Cancer Committee of CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital is proud to present its 2008 Annual Report. The Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program of CHRISTUS St.Patrick Hospital is currently accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
At CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital, the experienced physicians and staff are committed to providing the most advanced treatment options to oncology patients throughout Southwest Louisiana.
Established in 1982, the Regional Cancer Center meets the needs of oncology patients. Accredited by the Commission on Cancer, the center provides multidisciplinary care including cancer surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, outpatient treatment, research, education and support.
The newest technology added to the cancer program is Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy, (IMRT). IMRT is an ultra-precise radiation therapy that allows higher cancer-killing radiation doses while decreasing potentially harmful doses and side effects to surrounding healthy tissues. The center’s team includes board certified radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and surgeon’s, chemotherapy-certified professionals, and other medical and oncological technicians and specialists. Services are provided as inpatient and outpatient basis, depending on the needs of the patient.
