Nurses' Prayer

Holy and Loving God, help me today to love my job, and help me feel that I am really doing your work of healing when I look after people who are in need of healing.

Help me at all times to have:

• Patience with the unreasonable, the difficult and the irritating.
  
• Sympathy with the frightened and the nervous.
  
• And never let me neglect those who are quiet and uncomplaining.

When people inquire about friends or family, let me remember how concerned they must be.

When a task is difficult, give me steady nerves and skilled hands.

When orders are given and instructions conveyed, help me be courteous, conscientious and efficient.

When there is an emergency, help me be quick and decisive.

In all that I do, let me be a reflection of you, the Great Physician, extending your healing ministry.

I make this prayer in your holy name. AMEN.
